Many scriptures are quoted to talk about the end times, however there is one that is consistently missed.
1 Thessalonians 5:1-3

"1Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need to have anything written to you. 2For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3While people are saying, "There is peace and security," then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape."
Amplified Bible
"1But as to the suitable times and the precise seasons and dates, brethren, you have no necessity for anything being written to you. 2For you yourselves know perfectly well that the day of the [return of the] Lord will come [as unexpectedly and suddenly] as a thief in the night. 3When people are saying, All is well and secure, and, There is peace and safety, then in a moment unforeseen destruction (ruin and death) will come upon them as suddenly as labor pains come upon a woman with child; and they shall by no means escape, for there will be no escape."

"I don't think, friends, that I need to deal with the question of when all this is going to happen. You know as well as I that the day of the Master's coming can't be posted on our calendars. He won't call ahead and make an appointment any more than a burglar would. About the time everybody's walking around complacently, congratulating each other—"We've sure got it made! Now we can take it easy!"—suddenly everything will fall apart. It's going to come as suddenly and inescapably as birth pangs to a pregnant woman."
What does this mean. Well to me it means things will seem to get better just before the whole political system falls apart in destruction.
"Peace and Security" from the war on Terror will at some point be declared in the future as well as other peaceful efforts that seem to be working. So some high up political leaders can declare this to the world and that is the trigger for the end to begin.
I am wondering if Obama could be the catalyst for this "Change" to "Peace & Security"

Look at what the back of his shirt says, is there any doubt he wants to change the world? He has already made it to the "Nation" part.
Then...
On November 4, 2008 A triumphant Barack Obama was elected America’s 44th President, and immediately committed himself to furthering peace and security around the world.
Addressing those overseas who were watching his election he said: “Our stories are singular, but our destiny is shared, and a new dawn of American leadership is at hand. To those who would tear this world down - we will defeat you. To those who seek peace and security - we support you."

For we know that our patchwork heritage is a strength, not a weakness. We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus — and non-believers. We are shaped by every language and culture, drawn from every end of this Earth; and because we have tasted the bitter swill of civil war and segregation, and emerged from that dark chapter stronger and more united, we cannot help but believe that the old hatreds shall someday pass; that the lines of tribe shall soon dissolve; that as the world grows smaller, our common humanity shall reveal itself; and that America must play its role in ushering in a new era of peace.
These events could be leading to the eventual fulfillment of the scripture mentioned at the outset.

We also know that the old approaches won’t meet the challenges of our time. Threats now move freely across borders, and the ability to do great harm lies in the hands of individuals as well as nations. No technology — no matter how smart — can stop the spread of nuclear weapons. No army — no matter how strong — can eliminate every adversary. No weapon — no matter how powerful — can erase the hatred that lies in someone’s heart.
So it falls to institutions like this — and to individuals like you — to help us understand the world as it is, to develop the capacities that we need to confront emerging danger, and to act with purpose and pragmatism to turn this moment of peril into one of promise. That’s how we will find new pathways to peace and security. That is the work that we must do.
Now, make no mistake: This nation will maintain our military dominance. We will have the strongest armed forces in the history of the world.
